Perdu launched as a cocktail bar in Newcastle upon Tyne with a desire to appeal to a niche clientele at the top end of the market. Previously an old bank in the heart of the city the client asked for differentiation both from the way the bar was named and identified but also as a stylish interior experience.

After an involved naming exercise the name Perdu – ‘lost’ was chosen. This gave us the ability to play on the notions of being lost in love, conversation, music, atmosphere and surroundings. For a cocktail bar this was very appropriate. Our identity – inspired by victorian wallpaper design – was then enhanced with modern paper stocks and printing techniques.

A poem was written to describe the atmosphere of the bar and illustrated in a printed booklet for launch night. The signage and interior extended the dark and silvery theme with black lacquer, dark woods and glass bars.
