Regent Street Cinema Gala Film

The Birthplace of British Cinema & Beyond

Roundhouse Pictures were commissioned to produce a film to celebrate the re-opening of Regent Street Cinema, 35-years after it was closed.
The requirements for this project was to create a film that showcased the unique place the building holds in British cinematic history (the LumiĆ©re brothers first exhibited their cinematographe there in 1896 – the first time moving pictures were shown in Britain) while also looking ahead to the role it will play as a facility where the film-makers of tomorrow will learn and a home for brilliant cinema.
We answered this brief by creating this short film which mixes contributions from broadcasting and film heavyweights, academics, archive photography, footage and animated elements.
